Best Local Farm & Veggies Stand in the Treasure Valley
Spyglass Gardens is nestled in the Treasure Valley's remaining farmland, on Linder just south of Victory Road, in Meridian. Don't worry about not being able to find it as there is plenty of signage from all directions! These colorful signs also tell the traveler what is fresh, in season and for sale at the veggie stand. Once you arrive, you will be greeted by Steve and Wendy, the knowledgeable and friendly owners, as well as Morgan, their lovable Golden Retriver - or should I say Morgan will greet you from his yard with ball in tow! Spyglass is a 2 1/2 acre farm that offers fresh, local, natural - no spray fruits and vegetables, as well as local honey from Greenleaf, Wicked Salsa from Kuna and many other local treats to delight your taste buds. Peaches, apricots and berries (red, black & blue) are in season now, as well as red & yukon gold potatoes, summer squash, cucumbers and watermelons. The tomatoes are beginning to come on and I heard that there will be corn this week! Let us not forget fresh eggs... Boy, all this talk of food has made me hungry. Hooray for summer and hooray for the sweat and tears that Steve and Wendy have put into this local treasure called Spyglass Gardens. This is their seventh year! Spyglass also give garden tours to schools and clubs (call ahead please), a Harvest/Pumpkins festival, and canning and crafts classes which are open to the public. New this year, Spyglass has begun to offer bedding plants, hanging baskets, and some perrenials (a larger selection will be offered next year). Wendy, an exflorist, creates the most beautiful pots to grace your porch or patio. Bring in your own pots, pick out your flowers or let Wendy work her magic and she will fashion a thing of beauty for you to enjoy throughout the summer and fall. Spyglass Gardens where good local, natural food and great folks meet... See ya there! - Airmids Pool , posted 07/16/07
